Glass Etching is: Glass Etching is a design that is either sand blasted or etched with acid into the glass. Glass etching can be done to mirrors and clear, tinted or colored glass. Several different techniques can be used in the etching process. The most common is to frost the glass, using either sand or aluminium oxide as an abrasive. Etching with acid is a slower process and does not allow a three dimensional appearance. Sand blasting allows the artist to carve deep into the glass and to add lighter values to the design, similar to a pencil sketch. Artistic etching should have clean, clear lines and different depths. The etching should always appear a grayish blue.
